The right pole length for Nordic Skating is primarily calculated by your body size.
The following formula serves as a basis: body height (in cm) x 0.9 + stand height of the skate = Your pole length
Example:
180 (body size) x 0.9 = 162 + 7cm (example: Skike V07 Plus stand height) = 169 ≈ 170cm
You can find the height of the stand in the specs of the skate.
ATTENTION:
Please note that for skates, that are skated with your own shoes, the sole thickness of the shoe must be taken into account for the stand height.
As the poles are always offered in 5cm increments by the manufacturer, they have to be rounded up or down. Beginners and athletes with less strength should rather ride a shorter stick when in doubt. Experienced and more powerful skaters tend to choose the longer pole. Depending on anatomy, riding style and distance to be skated, longer poles can also be artificially adjusted by moving the point at which the pole is placed further back. This protects the shoulder musculature and makes the poles more handy, but it is also no longer so powerful to ride.
